Hearts of Oak coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani said his side’s victory over Heart of Lions in the Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Charity Cup will mean little unless the team stays true to its culture and style of play.
“Apart from just scoring, the aspect we're trying to do is to align with our culture, with our team philosophy and with our style of play” Dramani said after the final whistle.
The Phobians lifted the traditional Homowo Cup with a commanding 2 0 win, but Dramani stressed that maintaining the club’s identity on the pitch was just as important as the result.
The annual Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Charity Cup game is part of the annual Homowo celebrations which is aimed at promoting unity and peace while giving both sides a competitive test ahead of the new football season.
Meanwhile, Hearts are in the middle of their pre-season build-up ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign, where they will be hoping to improve on last season’s fourth-placed finish.
