Hearts of Oak have dismissed allegations linking their goalkeeper Benjamin Asare to a theft incident that occurred in the camp of the Ghana national football team.
The incident reportedly took place in Vienna during Ghana’s trip for their friendly against Austria last Friday, where one player had personal items stolen from his room.
Following the development, some local bloggers circulated Asare’s image on social media, falsely accusing him of being behind the theft.
Hearts of Oak, in a statement released earlier this afternoon described the claims as false, misleading, defamatory and have urged the public to disregard those reportage.
The club confirmed it has engaged the Ghana Football Association and reported those behind the false accusations to the relevant authorities for investigation.
The Phobians also assured that Benjamin Asare remains very focused and unaffected and is most likely to start in the next friendly game against Germany on Monday, March 30 at the MHP Arena.
