Former Ghana international Charles Taylor has publicly expressed his disappointment over Laryea Kingston's decision to step down as head coach of the Ghana Black Starlets.

Kingston, also a former Ghana international, announced his resignation following the team's 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in the ongoing WAFU B U-17 tournament, hosted by Ghana.

Taylor stated that he has always respected Kingston for his passion and commitment to the game. He compared Kingston's coaching style to that of former Ghana coaches Addy and Afranie, who were known for their ability to manage and nurture young talents.

"Since I got to know Laryea, I respect him till today because whatever he does, he does it with passion. The U-17 team Laryea picked showed the old style of coaching we saw with Coach Addy and Coach Afranie, who managed boys like himself (Laryea) and many other players that delivered for Ghana," Taylor told Peace FM.

"Those coaches I compare with Laryea because if you look at the U-17 team, the football they were playing made me remember those days because the quality is there, so I always encouraged him.

"I call him to talk to him, and on the day he resigned, he called me in the morning. I spoke to him for almost two hours. When we came to Rasta Park in the rain, I was in the car with him, talking to him. For me, I am disappointed that he has resigned from the U-17," Taylor added.
