Ghana's national team coach, Otto Addo, pledges to closely monitor the Ghana Premier League in search of talent as he unveils his squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
As Addo announces his 26-man squad, he emphasizes the importance of local talent, with Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare being the sole local player selected for the upcoming matches.
Addressing the press at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) headquarters, Addo commits to attending matches in person to identify promising players, stating, "I will watch the Ghana Premier League closer and live not videos but I will be going to the various stadia," he said.
"I will try to help as much as I can and I will watch closer because if a player is good, he is good and it doesn't care where he is coming from or where he plays”
Addo asserts that player quality matters more than their background or club affiliation, affirming, "If I like a player, I will take him and I will look close to find players from the local league," he added.
The Black Stars are set to commence training at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, gearing up for their matches against Mali and Central African Republic in June.
