Ghana defender Daniel Amartey has thrown his support behind the Black Satellites ahead of the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, expressing confidence in their ability to make a strong impact.
The versatile Ghana international, currently without a club, highlighted his unwavering support for all national teams and believes the current U20 squad has what it takes to excel at the tournament.
“I support Ghana football at every level. If the women are playing, I support them. I believe the team will do well in Egypt,” Amartey said in an interview on Asempa FM.
The Black Satellites arrived in Cairo over the weekend to intensify their preparations ahead of the competition, which kicks off this weekend. As part of their build-up, the team played two friendlies — a loss to Zambia and a draw against Kenya — as they fine-tune their strategies for the group stage.
Ghana, four-time champions of the U20 AFCON, are drawn in Group C alongside Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic. They begin their campaign on May 2 against DR Congo, aiming for a record-extending fifth title, having last lifted the trophy in 2021.
