Ghanaian international Kamaldeen Sulemana has admitted that he needs to improve his output in the final third, acknowledging that his goal contributions have yet to match his technical ability and flair on the pitch.
The 23-year-old Southampton winger is widely regarded for his electric pace, dribbling, and creativity, but has often faced criticism for his limited end product in front of goal. Recurring injuries in recent seasons have also disrupted his rhythm and overall development.
In an interview with ShowMax, Sulemana reflected on his footballing idols — Ronaldinho and Jay-Jay Okocha — whose blend of showmanship and effectiveness continues to inspire him.
“Ronaldinho and Jay-Jay made people smile; they made people enjoy the game. And that is what I want to do,” he said.
“But I want to be able to back it up with goals and assists. That is the only thing missing from my game. I am pushing and working hard to add that. I don’t only want to be an entertainer, but rather a complete player.”
Since joining Southampton, Sulemana has registered four goals and seven assists in 67 appearances across all competitions.
During his time at Stade Rennais in Ligue 1, he scored six goals and contributed four assists in 47 games. Across his professional club career, Sulemana has tallied 24 goals and 17 assists in 158 matches.
As he continues to work on refining his game, Sulemana remains focused on evolving beyond just flair — aiming to become a decisive force in both club and international football.
