Black Stars attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana has emphasized the importance for Ghana to qualify for the 2026 World Cup as they are steadfast to show what they are capable of dishing out.
The West African giants took a commanding lead at the top of Group I of the qualifying campaign after pummelling Chad and Madagascar during the international break in March.
Ghana have raked 15 points, three above second-placed Comoros with four matches left to play.
Speaking to Showmax, Sulemana recalled how Ghana crashed out of the group stage of the last two Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and in Ivory Coast, and missed out on qualification to this year's continental showpiece.
"We also didn’t perform well in the last two AFCON tournaments, so we were hoping to make this year a great one," he said.
"We as players take the blame and take full responsibility for not qualifying, and we have apologised to the country and our fans."
Sulemana, who plies his trade for Southampton talked about the importance of Ghana making the World Cup again.
"We want to do well in the World Cup qualifiers and in the World Cup."
