Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has expressed his pride after playing a crucial role in helping Ghana secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The experienced shot-stopper was instrumental throughout the Black Stars’ qualifying campaign, capping it off by keeping a clean sheet in Ghana’s decisive 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, which sealed the nation’s fifth appearance at the global tournament.

Asare’s performances between the sticks were outstanding — he conceded only one goal in six matches, recording five clean sheets and firmly establishing himself as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper during the qualifiers.

Celebrating the achievement, Asare took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a photo of himself jubilating after the win, accompanied by the caption:

“I know my name will be mentioned in the book of days.”

The Hearts of Oak star was one of only two Ghana Premier League players to feature in the Black Stars squad during the qualification campaign, underscoring the domestic league’s contribution to the national team’s success.

Ghana’s qualification marks their fifth World Cup appearance — and their second consecutive — making them one of five African nations to secure a place at the 2026 tournament to be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
