Germany striker Deniz Undav has praised Ghana’s attacking strength, insisting the Black Stars remain a difficult opponent for any top side, despite Germany edging them 2–1 in an international friendly at the MHP Arena.

The Stuttgart forward came off the bench to score a late winner as the European giants survived a strong second-half fightback from Ghana in an entertaining contest.

Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz put Germany ahead just before half-time, converting from the spot after Jonas Adjetey was penalised for a handball inside the box.

Ghana responded strongly after the break, with Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku restoring parity in the 70th minute. The attacker calmly finished from close range after a well-timed cut-back from Derrick Kohn.

However, Undav eventually decided the contest, reacting quickest to a lofted pass from Leroy Sané to slot home the decisive goal late in the game.

Reflecting on the match, Undav said he enjoyed the atmosphere and the experience of scoring the winner for his country.

“It was incredible to hear the fans behind me, I really enjoyed that. For me, it was fantastic to come on and score the winning goal. It was a perfect evening,” he said.

He added that Germany had controlled large spells of the game but acknowledged their need for greater efficiency in front of goal.

“We had almost complete control in the first half, but we need to be more dangerous and convert more of our chances,” he noted.

Undav also praised Ghana’s resilience and attacking threat, stressing that the Black Stars created problems for his side.

“It’s always tough against a team like that. Ghana has good attacking players, as you could see from their goal. But we kept going and were determined to win,” he said. “We need to work on the little things to become more efficient.”

Despite securing back-to-back wins in the international break, Ghana’s Black Stars are still searching for their first victory since October 2025.
