President of Ghana Premier League new-boys Vision FC, Michael Osekre, has shrugged off reports in the local media of being in line to replace Kwesi Appiah on the Executive Council (ExCo) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Reports in the local media fueled by Joy FM journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai on August 14, 2024, say that the top hierarchy of the Ghana FA has asked the current head coach of the Sudanese national team, Kwesi Appiah, to resign from his role as a member of the GFA Executive Council due to a presumed conflict of interest.

Osekre took to his official Facebook account to refute the claims and described it as a cook-up story published by the above-mentioned journalist.

Appiah, who formerly coached the Ghana Black Stars, was duly elected to the Executive Council after his tenure with Asante Kotoko’s IMC, before his appointment as head coach of Sudan.

It was also reported that during a recent Executive Council meeting, Appiah decided to excuse himself when discussions about the Black Stars commenced in Accra.

Ghana has been paired in Group F with Sudan, Angola, and Niger for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The qualifiers are expected to start in September 2024 and end in November 2024, with the top two teams in the group booking a place in the biennial tournament in Morocco.
