Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann has revealed that his team is “very much looking forward” to their international friendly clash against Otto Addo’s Black Stars, scheduled for Monday, March 30, 2026, as both sides fine-tune preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The high-profile friendly will be played in Stuttgart and forms part of Germany’s final build-up to the global showpiece, which kicks off in June 2026 across Mexico, Canada and the United States. Nagelsmann believes the encounter will provide his side with a valuable preview of the challenges they can expect at the tournament.

The match also carries personal significance, with Ghana led by Hamburg-born Otto Addo, a former Bundesliga star and 15-time Ghana international, who won the German Bundesliga title with Borussia Dortmund in 2002.

Speaking about the fixture, Nagelsmann highlighted Ghana’s tactical strengths and their relevance to Germany’s World Cup campaign.

“We are very much looking forward to the clash with Otto’s team,” Nagelsmann said.
“Their strong transition play can give us a taste of what to expect in the World Cup group match against Ivory Coast.”

Ghana secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup in convincing fashion, finishing as group winners, and have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama. The four-time African champions will be eager to use the friendly as a statement of intent ahead of the tournament.

Historically, Ghana and Germany have met three times. Their first encounter came in a friendly in Bochum in 1993, where Germany recorded a 6-1 victory. The two nations later faced off at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, with Germany winning 1-0, before playing out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The friendly is scheduled to kick off at 8:45 pm on Monday, March 30, 2026, in what promises to be a compelling pre-World Cup showdown between two ambitious sides.
