Ghanaian football legend, Mohammed Polo, has showered praise on the current administration of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) under the leadership of Kurt Okraku.
According to Polo, Okraku's tenure has sparked a resurgence in football across the nation, marked by a series of transformative policies implemented from grassroots development to the women's game.
In an interview with Citi Sports, the former Ghana international expressed admiration for the significant strides made by the Okraku-led GFA, highlighting it as one of the most impactful administrations he has witnessed.
"He has done tremendously well because there were huge expectations which brought a lot of tension on the GFA. This is one of the best GFA administrations I have ever seen," Polo remarked.
Reflecting on the state of football in Ghana prior to Okraku's tenure, Polo emphasized the challenges faced by previous administrations and the perceived stagnation in football development.
"I have been in the system and seen a number of the Ghana football administration, and this is one of the best which has come and improved Ghana football because football was dead," he added.
Polo further commended the tangible outcomes of Okraku's leadership, noting the positive trajectory observed in Ghanaian football. He acknowledged the efforts to rejuvenate the sport and emphasized the gradual realization of Okraku's vision.
"Someone will say Nyantakyi’s time, but he had a crop of players who were dedicated and that was the generation who couldn’t win the Afcon. They were quality but they couldn’t win," Polo reflected.
"Things were going from bad to worse, but this man, when he came, he was trying to put things in place but the result wasn’t coming. Fortunately, he’s got another term and we are seeing the result," he concluded, highlighting the promising signs of progress under Okraku's stewardship.
