Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says he remains unconcerned about the possibility of losing his job despite guiding Ghana to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 49-year-old tactician led the Black Stars to their fifth World Cup appearance following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Comoros on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium. Mohammed Kudus’ first-half strike secured Ghana’s qualification and sent fans into jubilation.

Despite achieving the primary target of qualification, Addo’s position has faced scrutiny due to the team’s inconsistent performances throughout the campaign. However, the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach insists his focus is on bringing joy to Ghanaians rather than worrying about his future.

Speaking to the Ghana FA’s official website ahead of the decisive clash with Comoros, Addo said, “What happens after is not in my hands. I hope that if we win, a lot of people can go to America. We have to win this game. This is what we are looking at. If Ghanaians are happy, then we are happy.”

With this latest achievement, Otto Addo becomes the first coach to lead Ghana to consecutive World Cup tournaments, having also guided the team to the 2022 edition in Qatar.

The Black Stars will discover their group-stage opponents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on December 5.
