Ghana's head coach, Otto Addo, shared his thoughts on the Black Stars' goalless draw against Sudan in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Addo acknowledged Sudan's defensive strength, particularly highlighting their goalkeeper's performance. “Every team poses a threat, and they defended well today. Their goalkeeper was especially impressive. However, if we had been a bit more astute in capitalizing on our chances, we could have secured a win,” he remarked.
Ghana controlled the match with significant possession and created several scoring opportunities, particularly in the second half. Despite their efforts, they were unable to penetrate Sudan's sturdy defense. “We created numerous chances, but I can't say Sudan performed well overall. The only positive for them is the point they earned. We need to focus on our ability to win games,” Addo added.
Following the draw, Ghana has accumulated only two points from three matches and currently sits third in Group F. Angola leads the group with six points, followed by Sudan with four, while Niger remains at the bottom with one point.
Looking ahead, Ghana prepares for the return leg against Sudan, scheduled for October 15 in Benina, Libya, where a victory is essential to keep their qualification hopes alive.
