Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has outlined his plan to go all out in search of Ghana's first win in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Addo acknowledged the team's struggles but stressed that the Black Stars still control their destiny as they prepare for their crucial return leg against Sudan in Libya, following a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana has had a disappointing start to their qualifying campaign, earning only two points from three games in Group F. With pressure mounting on the four-time AFCON champions, a victory in the next match is crucial to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Addressing the media after the draw against Sudan, Addo refrained from making promises but assured Ghanaians that the team will give everything they have in the upcoming match. “This is football. I cannot guarantee anything, not even my life—maybe God will take it tomorrow. But we will try our best, and I believe we will be rewarded,” Addo said.
Despite the pressure, the Black Stars coach emphasized that the team’s fate remains in their own hands. “The positive thing is that it’s still in our control. We have to win the next game, and that’s all that matters,” he stated.
However, Addo cautioned that winning the next match might not guarantee qualification, acknowledging that the path to AFCON 2025 remains challenging. “We can win the next game and still not qualify. There’s a long road ahead, but with this performance, we will succeed in Libya against Sudan,” he concluded.
The Black Stars now face a must-win situation in Libya, where they will look to secure their first victory and revive their AFCON qualification campaign.
