Former Ghanaian international Prince Tagoe believes that the Black Stars can only succeed if players are able to replicate at least 80% of their performances from club level.
This comes in light of Ghana's struggles in the qualifiers, where they have managed to secure just two points from their opening three games in Group F.
The Black Stars' chances of qualifying for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament took another blow after they failed to secure maximum points against Sudan in a disappointing goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday. Their struggles, which include a loss to Angola and draws against Niger and Sudan, have raised concerns among fans regarding the team's performance and direction.
Tagoe emphasized the need for improvement, stating, “If the players can replicate at least 80% of the performances they exhibit at their various clubs, we will undoubtedly win games. We have good players, but the character they exhibit in approaching Black Stars games is very low, and that has been our biggest problem.” He shared these insights during an interview with Bryt FM.
As Ghana prepares for their crucial upcoming match against Sudan in Tripoli, Libya, they face a pressing need for a significant turnaround in performance to keep their AFCON 2025 hopes alive. Coach Otto Addo and his team will be under pressure to deliver a positive result in order to secure a spot in the tournament.
