The Court hearing of the alleged rape case involving the Ghana international in the UK has been adjourned to September 15, 2025.

Villarreal CF midfielder Thomas Partey was scheduled to appear at the Central Criminal Court today, September 2, 2025 after being charged for five counts of rape against two women.

However, the case has been postponed by the court without any explanation and he'll be appearing on the eve of Villarreal CF's Champions League game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Partey, who appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court last month, was allowed to move to Spain to continue his playing career with Villarreal CF while facing trial over the rape allegations.

His switch to La Liga had been met with initial protests by the club’s fans, but Partey has since made three substitute appearances in the league.

Partey was charged four days after leaving Arsenal when his contract expired at the end of June. Six of the allegations involved anal rape, two of which related to the first victim. One of those charges “is a multi-incident allegation which occurred between 19th April 2021 and 19th June 2021”, with prosecutor Jocelyn Ledward KC telling the court it took place “on at least four occasions”.

In July 2022, Partey was interviewed about the first allegation, and on November 7, 2024, he went to a voluntary interrogation about the second.

A second alleged victim is the subject of three distinct rape charges. The first one dates back to December 2021, when Partey allegedly solicited her for sex, to which she allegedly replied, "I don't want to." According to reports, a fifth rape charge occurred in June 2022.

According to the court hearing on a third alleged victim's sexual assault complaint, Partey reportedly assaulted the woman "by lying on top of her, trying to kiss her, and touching her all over her body over clothing without her consent" in February 2022.

Partey has already arrived in the Black Stars of Ghana camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Chad and Mali on September 4th and 8th respectively.
