Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has been appointed to the Management Committee of the Black Galaxies, adding his wealth of top-level experience to the local-based national side.
Badu, who was once a deputy captain of the Black Stars, enjoyed an illustrious career with the senior team, amassing 78 caps.
He was part of Ghana’s golden U-20 generation that lifted both the 2009 Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-20 World Cup – scoring the decisive penalty in the final that secured the country’s historic triumph. He went on to feature in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and appeared in five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
The new committee will be chaired by Kingsley Osei Bonsu, Executive Council member and CEO of Bechem United, with Volta Regional FA chairman Daniel Agboga serving as vice-chair. Also included are seasoned administrators Michael Kofi Oduro of Na-God FC and Daniel Asante of Wamanafo Mighty Royals.
Badu’s inclusion has been widely welcomed as a step towards bridging the gap between administrative structures and player realities. His first-hand knowledge of international football, coupled with his journey from grassroots to global stage, is seen as a major asset in shaping the Black Galaxies’ next phase.
The committee has been tasked with guiding the side’s preparations and ensuring they remain competitive on the continental stage. With a mix of administrative expertise and football pedigree, the hope is that the Galaxies can rise to new heights under the revamped leadership.
