Uncertainty continues to surround the vacant Black Stars coaching job, with several high-profile candidates either distancing themselves or yet to be contacted by the Ghana Football Association.

The position became available following the dismissal of Otto Addo after Ghana’s disappointing March international window, where defeats to Austria and Germany exposed major concerns ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Since then, the situation has grown increasingly unclear. Walid Regragui has ruled himself out of the role, while highly-rated Hervé Renard is set to continue with Saudi Arabia.

In addition, both Kwesi Appiah and Tom Saintfiet have confirmed that they have not been contacted by the GFA, raising further questions about the direction of the search.

With time fast running out, the lack of clarity over a potential appointment has increased concerns about Ghana’s readiness for the tournament, as the team looks to regroup for the friendly against Mexico in weeks time.

However, reports indicate that Joachim Löw is in contact with the GFA and could emerge as a strong contender for the role, with the 2014 World Cup winner to pocket €150k.

Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 18, before facing England and Croatia in Group L.
