Mohammed Salisu was not included in the latest Black Stars squad despite meeting Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku earlier this month.
The Ghana FA boss - Okraku - met the England based centre-back to deliberate on when he intends to make himself available for the senior national team.
Okraku was on a working visit in Europe and managed to travel to Southampton to meet the sought-after robust defender.
During the deliberation, Salisu made clear his intentions to play for Ghana but Okraku jokingly pressed him in the Hausa dialect to name the date which forced the confession from the player.
"If you don't play football, I'm I the one who is going to play?," Okraku questioned the Southampton star.
Salisu responded: "The problem is we do everything with you guys, and if we don't include you it won't work so I hope you understand. There are a lot of players."
After the much-awaited meeting, several reports emanated that Salisu has changed his mind and will be available for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as well as the FIFA World Cup later this year.
However, he was not named in coach Otto Addo's squad which was announced on Thursday, leaving Ghanaian football fanatics distraught, demanding for answers.
The 33 players handed invitations will arrive this weekend to begin preparations for the qualifiers against Madagascar at the Cape Coast Stadium on Wednesday, June 1 followed by an away encounter against the Central African Republic on June 6, before jetting-out to Japan to participate in a World Cup preparational tournament.
Ghana will slug-it-out with Japan, Chile, and Tunisia in the Kirin Cup Soccer tournament organised by Japanese integrated beverages firm - Kirin Brewery Company.
