Ghana Football Association Executive Council member, Frederick Acheampong has stated categorically clear that, due to the country's current economic circumstances, it will be very difficult to appoint the people's favourite Hervé Renard to lead the Black Stars.

The senior men national team have been without a substantive coach since the jettisoning of Chris Hughton weeks ago after a disastrous AFCON campaign in Cote D'Ivoire.

The Ghana FA since, have been on the lookout for his replacement and have set up a committee to get the four-time champions a new coach with strict requirements laid up for all candidates to meet.

Despite these, many a Ghanaian football faithful have shown strong interest in French coach Hervé Renard- who is currently the manager of the France senior women national team.

Speaking in a recent interview on Akoma FM in Kumasi, the ex- AshantiGold SC CEO stated it is the wish of the GFA to also hire the service of the two-time AFCON winner but feels his wages are too high for them to be able to afford.

"Hervé Renard has always been the preferred choice of the FA since the departure of CK Akonnor, and while the coach is willing to coach Ghana, the economic circumstances makes it difficult for us to hire him."

The Black Stars are most likely to regroup in March though no any friendlies has been announced yet and will face Mali in June in match-day 3 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
