Ghana Football Association Communication Director, Henry Asante Twum has revealed the maltreatment the Black Stars went through after their win against Mali last Thursday.
Ghana exhibited a stupendous performance to come from behind and beat the Eagles by 2-1 at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako in match-day 3 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
The Malians opened the scoring account through Kamory Doumbia but his lead was subsequently cancelled out by Ernest Nuamah in the early stages of the second half before Jordan Ayew sealed the win late for Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Luv FM, the Ghana FA Spokesperson stated the team whiles preparing to leave the stadium after the game got attacked and had to come under security guidance for sometime before they left to the airport.
"The Malian fans attacked our team bus and the Ghanaian fans as well. We were held hostage after the win and it took us a while to leave the stadium."
This victory is a massive one for the Black Stars and has boosted their qualification chances and also revive the hopes of Ghanaians in the team and will look to replicate similar performances or better in their subsequent games.
The four-time African champions are currently in serious preparations in Kumasi towards their next game against Central African Republic- which is slated for Monday, June 10, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
