Ghanaian legend, Mohammed Polo has tasked the Black Stars to secure qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and added they are going to come under a very huge scrutiny if they fail to do so.
The Black Stars opened camp last Thursday at the University of Ghana Stadium where they held series of training sessions before departing to Bamako yesterday for the game against Mali.
The four-time African champions will be hoping for consecutive World Cup qualifications after making the last edition in Qatar in 2022 where they suffered a group stage elimination.
Ghana are currently on the fourth position in Group I of the qualifiers with three points, having won against Madagascar in their first game and lost narrowly at Comoros.
Speaking on Akoma FM, the ex- Hearts of Oak and Black Stars winger said it won't be good for Ghana to miss out and added the players will hear from him if they are unable to secure a spot in USA.
"These players have been assigned to the Black Stars, even though I fervently hope they succeed and will fully support them, they will definitely hear from us if they don't.
"Ghana cannot afford to miss the World Cup, and since we failed in Qatar and Afcon, we should make it mandatory to qualify for the US this time. Previously, there was only one slot available, but now there are five, so we must seize this opportunity to become eligible.
"As I mentioned before, qualification is essential because Ghanaians will not overlook failure, and this can only be attained via diligence."
Ghana will play as guests to the Eagles of Mali on Thursday, June 6, in Bamako.
