Yussif Basigi has stated that he isn't surprised Mukarama Abdulai is flourishing, after emerging as the Home-Based Female Footballer of the Year at the 2024 Ghana Football Awards.

Basigi was nostalgic about how Mukarama's career was nearly destroyed after a lengthy injury layoff, amid playing a key role in the Black Princesses gold medal success at the 2023 African Games.

“I realized that such a household name, you don’t need to let her go rotten after having sat home for almost one and a half years due to injury, we had to ensure that she got recuperated.

"I took her to Takoradi to bring her back on track. She agreed and I’m not surprised this time around, she is making it” Basigi told Channel One Sports.

Mukarama's return  from injury saw her contribute substantially to Hasaacas Ladies triumph - winning the Women's Premier League title.

She has earned a spot in coach Nora Hauptle's Black Queens squad for their upcoming international friendly game against Japan later this month.
