Berekum Chelsea were unable to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday late afternoon as they were held to a goal-less (0-0) stalemate by FC Samartex.
The Timber Giants kept their feet on the gas from Wednesday's 2-1 win over Medeama and did an admirable job of limiting the dangerous hosts on the breakaway, but they ultimately didn't do enough in the final third themselves to garner all three points.
Berekum Chelsea will be content with a point after two defeats in their last five matches. The Bibires headed into the contest off the back of defeat, as Samartex enjoyed the comforts of the Golden City Park for the first time since they haven't recorded a defeat in their last nine matches.
A physical slog-fest was projected in the build-up to the contest, and there were early signs of that expectation playing out as both teams came into the match really prepared.
It didn't take Samartex long to settle into a rhythm, though, and they enjoyed much of the territory in the opening stages. But the positioning of their attackers in the final third did give the stubborn hosts something to think about.
Going the other way, Berekum Chelsea were limited to moments, but they transitioned with menace any time the Timber Giants surrendered open space. Kofi Baah wasn't tested, however.
There was no dynamic shift at the start of the second half, with Samartex continuing to probe without reward. They started to have joy from set pieces.
Both gaffers - Samuel Boadu and Chris Ennin didn't turn to their bench in a bid to shift momentum, and Bibires did start to boast a threat through Stephen Amankona and Mezack Afriyie. The pair combined to draw a notable save out of Baah.
There was no major resurgence from the hosts, but Samartex also struggled to sustain unrelenting pressure in the closing stages. There was little action of late as the contest veered towards a stalemate, with the two teams sharing the spoils at the Golden City Park.
