The recently ended Ghana’s football season produced another season of pretty memorable and entertaining games for the Ghanaian football faithful to enjoy. It was also a season for the first.

Medeama SC won their first-ever premier league title. While Dreams FC clinched their first FA Cup silverware by beating King Faisal FC.

While quite a lot of promising Ghanaian talents excelled, some clubs still needed the magic of foreign talent to give a boost to their games. There were a few notable foreign talents that managed to stand in Ghana’s elite division in the 2022/23 season.

Kickgh.com attempts to look look at four stars who impressed, ranking them based on their output.

Steven Dese Mukwala (Asante Kotoko)

Mukwala joined Kotoko at the beginning of the season from Uganda Revenue Authority SC. There was untapped optimism surrounding his arrival at Kotoko. But courtesy of the team’s collective poor showings, the good feeling dissipated sooner rather than later.

Mukwala, however, held on, doing everything in his power to help the Porcupine Warriors. Over the course of the 2022-23 campaign, the Ugandan attacker scored 11 goals and provided 5 assists in 30 league appearances for the Kumasi club.

He may not be Frank Mbella Etouga, but his performances pretty confirmed that the 23-year-old has pretty much to offer.

Linda Mtange Don (Hearts of Oak)

Accra Hearts of Oak’s attacking midfielder Linda Mtange Don hardly needs an introduction. The DR Congo international is arguably one of the best attacking midfielders in the league, not just at Hearts. He is an exquisite passer, has impeccable vision, and regularly pops up with important goals and assists.

The midfield maestro missed the first half of the season due to issues of work permit. But he was found firing on all cylinders when his registration finally fell through. He scored 4 goals, registered 4 assists in 21 games helping Hearts to narrowly beat the drop.

Glid Jeordon Otanga (Hearts of Oak)

Defensive midfielder Glid Jeordon Otanga acts as a calm and collected core at Hearts. The Congolese may not be the most aesthetic player on the team, but he is certainly one of the most important. Without the 22-year-old firing on all cylinders, the entire team often falls apart, struggling to create attacks from deep and keep opposition attackers at bay.

He proved his quality – as if that was ever in doubt – and he looks like he'll go from strength to strength from here. He was a great buy for the Phobians: it's a surprise they managed to buy him uncontested.
