Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul-Aziz Nurudeen has finally returned to action after a lengthy injury layoff, marking a significant boost for the Phobians ahead of the second half of the season.
The 26-year-old defensive midfielder, once regarded as one of the finest in the Ghana Premier League, has endured a challenging spell with injuries since joining Hearts of Oak from Vision FC.
A persistent thigh injury sidelined him for nearly two years, forcing him to miss the entire first half of the current campaign.
In October 2022, Nurudeen underwent successful surgery in South Africa, followed by an extensive rehabilitation process. Last month, he resumed full team training, paving the way for his long-awaited return to the pitch.
On Wednesday, Nurudeen made his comeback in a friendly match against the Black Satellites at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Coming off the bench, he made an immediate impact as the Phobians secured a goalless draw against Ghana’s U20 side.
Before his injury Nurudeen was a key figure in Hearts of Oak’s midfield, playing a crucial role in the club’s victories in the 2022 President’s Cup and FA Cup.
Now back to full fitness, he is expected to strengthen the team’s midfield as they push for the Ghana Premier League title.
With his experience and resilience, Nurudeen will be hoping to reclaim his place in the squad and help Hearts of Oak return to the summit of Ghanaian football.
