Ghana Premier League campaigners Asante Kotoko have confirmed the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito as the club's head coach for the next two years.
The veteran tactician, who was earlier announced as the club's technical director, has been working on interim basis after the sacking of Prosper Narteh Ogum before the end of the 2024–25 season's campaign.
The new development in technical structure of the Kumasi-based club was confirmed late on Sunday, July 20, 2025 via an official statement.
“We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey as our head coach for the next two years” the statement from Kotoko read.
In Zito’s brief spell as Kotoko’s interim head coach, the Porcupine Warriors won the MTN FA Cup and President’s Cup. By winning the FA Cup, Kotoko will represent Ghana in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
Prior to his Kotoko appointment, Karim Zito led Dreams FC to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup and an MTN FA Cup title triumph for the first time in the club's history.
Asante Kotoko is preparing to travel to South Africa to Kaizer Chiefs in the 2025 Toyota Cup on July 26, 2025 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
