Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has hailed the broadcast partnership between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Adesa Productions Limited (APL), saying the deal presents a major opportunity to raise the competitiveness of the Ghana Premier League.

The agreement, which was announced last week, is expected to significantly expand coverage of domestic football across television and digital platforms.

Under the deal, each top-flight club will receive GH₵1 million (approx. USD 85,000) ahead of the 2025/26 season, with additional financial incentives based on league performance.

“The new Ghana Premier League broadcast deal offers a huge opportunity to make our league competitive,” Badu stated.

“Aside from the GH₵1 million awarded to the clubs, all participating teams are entitled to some reasonable amounts based on their finish in the league. For me, this will propel the clubs to approach the season with all seriousness.”

The 34-year-old former Udinese and Black Stars midfielder added that the funding structure could motivate teams to improve standards both on and off the pitch, potentially making the Ghana Premier League one of the most competitive on the continent.

The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on the weekend of September 12.
