Bibiani Gold Stars assistant coach Ernest Okyere says his team will take lessons from their loss to Medeama SC, but remains confident they can still challenge for the Ghana Premier League title.
Gold Stars were beaten 2-0 at the TnA Stadium on Sunday in a Matcheek 31 fixture, with Salim Adams scoring twice to hand Medeama all three points and strengthen their title push.
Speaking after the match, Okyere said the result was disappointing but insisted his players showed good signs on the pitch.
“Football is a 90 minutes game, and whatever comes out of it you need to accept and learn from it. Nothing went badly. My players proved we have revamped the team, and that impressed me a lot,” he said.
With four matches left in the season, Okyere believes the title race is still open, even though Medeama hold a five-point lead.
“The league is not over. We have four matches to go. They are five points ahead of us. There are 12 points in the four remaining matches. It means it’s not over until it's over. We need to go back, and on Wednesday, we need to make amends and close the gap,” he added.
Bibiani Gold Stars will next play FC Samartex at Duns Park as they aim to recover from the defeat.
