Asante Kotoko captain and goalkeeper Frederick Asare has expressed his worries about the team's persistent goalscoring issues as they gear up to face Nsoatreman FC in a crucial Ghana Premier League match on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
The Porcupine Warriors will host Nsoatreman in a rescheduled matchday two fixture at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.
Asare reflected on the team's recent performances and the frustration that stems from not capitalizing on scoring opportunities. "Sometimes it is very disappointing that we are not able to score more goals," he admitted. "But at the training ground, the coaches are working hard, and we have been practicing goalscoring every single day," he told the club's media.
He voiced confidence in the coaching staff's strategies, stating, "We as players are very confident in what they are teaching us, and we believe in ourselves. We trust in our strikers and every department in the team." Asare emphasized that the squad remains focused on improving their performance one game at a time.
With optimism for a turnaround, he noted, "From tomorrow, there's going to be an improvement because we trust in ourselves. Going forward, I think there’s going to be a difference."
So far this season, Asante Kotoko has scored three goals in their first three league matches, with each game yielding one goal.
Midfielders Emmanuel Antwi and Michael Kyei Dwamena contributed two of those goals, while striker Albert Amoah scored the third.
