Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu has been charged with misconduct by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following his public criticism of referee Mawuli Klu.

Despite guiding his team to a 2-1 victory over Medeama SC at the Golden City Park, the former Hearts of Oak coach expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating, accusing referees of bias against his team.

The GFA issued a statement on Wednesday outlining the charges:

"Samuel Boadu has been charged with a breach of Article 34 (6) (d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019, for comments made about match officials in a post-match interview following Chelsea's league game against Medeama SC."

"It is alleged that his remarks about the match officials constitute misconduct, bringing the name of the game into disrepute. He has until Thursday, January 23, 2025, to respond to the charges."

Boadu's comments have sparked debate, with some supporting his stance while others view it as undermining the integrity of match officials.

Chelsea’s hard-fought win over Medeama lifted them to a mid-table position, but the coach now faces potential disciplinary action for his remarks.
