Former Hearts of Oak board member Frank Nelson Nwokolo has thrown his weight behind the Phobians to mount a genuine push for the Ghana Premier League title this season.
After a turbulent campaign last season, the capital giants has undergone a period of recalibration both on and off the field, including the appointment of Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as head coach.
Nwokolo, a long-serving figure in the Hearts hierarchy, is convinced that the pieces are now in place for a serious title challenge.
“I believe that this year is the year that we can contest, and we are solid to go (for the title) because we have a very good coach,” he said.
The 2001 CAF Champions League winners last lifted the domestic title in 2021 under Samuel Boadu, and supporters have grown restless in their pursuit of another triumph.
Nwokolo, however, has urged patience and unity, insisting that the Phobians’ recent restructuring can yield results if fans continue to back the club’s ambitions.
Hearts of Oak will kick off their season on Friday night when they host newcomers Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium, 7pm GMT.
