Nations FC head coach Kasim Ocansey Mingle has confidently dismissed concerns over the absence of defensive general Razak Simpson ahead of their crucial Ghana Premier League clash with Basake Holy Stars, insisting his side has the tactical depth to adapt and thrive.
Simpson, a vital cog in Mingle’s system and also doubles as captain of the Abrankese based side, will miss the weekend’s encounter as a result of him taking part in the Black Stars 2025 Unity Cup competition in London.
Simpson, who is also the captain of the Abrankese based side is known for his high work rate, defensive discipline, and quick transitions has been the defensive heartbeat for Nations FC — shielding the back line while initiating attacks with pinpoint distribution.
However, Coach Mingle believes his side can navigate the challenge.
“Simpson’s absence is not going to affect us,” Mingle said. “We have been playing without him on several occasion. After Hearts of Oak game, he missed a couple of games before returning against Legon Cities last Monday.
“We knew about his situation, so we’ve always adjusted ourselves to meet the situation. We don’t have any problem.”
Mingle’s confidence stems from his tactical flexibility and trust in his squad’s adaptability. While Simpson’s absence removes a key stabilizing figure, it opens the door for others to shine and for Nations FC to showcase their growing depth.
With title ambitions still in sight, this Sunday's away test against Basake Holy Stars will not only measure the team’s resilience but also highlight Mingle’s tactical acumen under pressure as they currently sit top of the league table with 60 points after 32 rounds of matches.
