Legon Cities head coach Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin believes that his team's 2-1 victory over Asante Kotoko will serve as a pivotal moment in their Ghana Premier League season.
The Royals secured their first win of the campaign on Wednesday night at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking a significant turnaround after a challenging start. In contrast, the Porcupine Warriors faced disappointment after a strong beginning to the season.
Fabin remarked, “I told you from the beginning this game might be the turnaround, the turning point that we all needed for us to kick off our campaign, so it’s a good victory for us.”
Legon Cities took the lead in the 22nd minute with a goal from Albert Yeboah, setting the stage for a competitive match. Asante Kotoko responded in the 76th minute when in-form forward Albert Amoah equalized from the penalty spot, igniting hopes of a comeback.
However, Abdul Rahman delivered a dramatic late goal in stoppage time to clinch all three points for Legon Cities, ensuring a much-needed victory.
Following this win, Legon Cities have risen from the bottom of the league table to 17th position after eight matches. They will aim to build on this momentum as they prepare to host Young Apostles in their upcoming matchday 9 clash.
