Enoch Morrison, a midfielder who joined Asante Kotoko in 2022 from King Faisal FC, has been released by the club in preparation for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The decision was made by the technical team led by Prosper Narteh Ogum, who deemed Morrison surplus to requirements following the conclusion of the season.
Morrison, at just 24 years old, is one of over 20 players to be released by Asante Kotoko after the disappointing Ghana Premier League campaign. His contract, which was set to expire in June 2025, will be terminated in the coming days.
In an interview with Kessben FM, Morrison expressed his sadness at the news, calling it “heartbreaking.” He had hoped to finish his contract with the team and leave on a positive note, but he understands that sometimes things don’t go as planned in football. Despite his disappointment, Morrison is determined to accept the situation and move on with his career.
“It’s somehow heartbreaking to me because this team has always been a team I wanted to play and win trophies but this news can’t break me down as a player but I am pained because I wanted to finish my contract in a very beautiful way so that I will leave in peaceful but I don’t know how this thing has happened but going forward, I will accept this in a good fate and move on with my career,” he told Kessben FM in an interview.
During the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Morrison made 22 league appearances for Asante Kotoko, contributing with a goal and two assists. However, the team’s failure to secure the league title led to a restructuring, resulting in Morrison’s departure.
As he looks to the future, Morrison remains grateful for his time at Asante Kotoko and is determined to continue his career elsewhere. Though the news may be painful, he is focused on staying positive and making the most of the opportunities that come his way.

While the specific illness was not disclosed, the club confirmed the procedure's success, noting that Ogum is now concentrating on regaining full fitness before the next season.
“Our head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has undergone a successful surgery after a short illness. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back soon,” read the message on social media.

“We need to go there as early as possible to make sure that the players that we want we are able to get them as quickly as possible.”
