The Super Eagles B of Nigeria have advanced to the 2024 African Nations Championship after beating rivals Ghana by 3-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in the second leg of the playoff round.
The first leg finished goalless at the Ohene Gyan Stadium last week in what was a very epic and balance encounter.
Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani made three changes from the starting line up that played in the first leg; bringing in Fatawu Sulemana, Abdulai Nurudeen and Jerry Afriyie to replace Isaac Afful, Hafiz Ibrahim and Stephen Amankona.
The Nigerians however, took advantage of Ghana's highline style of defense to snatch the lead through Remo Stars' Sodiq Ismail in the 18th minute.
Just three minutes later, the Super Eagles B scored again through captain Nduka Junior who struck at a close range from a failed corner kick clearance.
Few moments later, Isaac Saviour nipped on a huge defensive clanger and rounded the Ghanaian goalie to hit the back of the net as it finished 3-0 at half time.
Back from recess, the Black Galaxies started taking the game under their total control and dominated much of possession with less goal-bound chances created.
Ghana finally pulled one back through Stephen Amankona with seventeen minutes to full time.
It finished 3-1 for the Super Eagles B who have staged a perfect revenge against their Ghanaian counterparts to qualify for the CHAN tournament.
The 2024 African Nations Championship is slated for February 1, and will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
