Black Queens striker Doris Boaduwaa has promised to rediscover her scoring touch after failing to find the net during Ghana’s run to the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The 22-year-old forward, who plays for Israel Women's Premier League Club Hapoel Jerusalem and previously featured for Hasaacas Ladies, endured a frustrating tournament, going scoreless despite Ghana’s third-place finish.
In a post on social media, Boaduwaa acknowledged her underwhelming personal performance and issued an apology to fans, vowing to return stronger in future international appearances.
"Not my finest tournament, but still a memorable one! I’m grateful we managed to secure the bronze medal in my AWCON debut," she wrote. "I apologize to my fans for not quite living up to expectations. I know I’m capable of more, and I promise to bounce back stronger."
She added: "To those who supported me through the ups and downs, thank you for your encouragement and prayers. Your words kept me going, and I’m honored to have such a loyal fanbase. I’ll be back, and next time, I’ll make sure to bring the goals!"
The Black Queens returned to Accra on Monday and were welcomed by hundreds of supporters at Kotoka International Airport. The team later paid courtesy visits to Parliament House and President John Mahama at the Jubilee House.
