The hard-tackling centre-back is set to seal a sensational switch to the French top-flight league campaigners.
French Ligue 1 club FC Metz have reached an agreement with IF Elfsborg to secure the signature of Ghanaian defender Terry Yegbe in the ongoing summer transfer window, Kickgh.com can exclusively confirm.
The Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien outfit have agreed to a transfer fee of €3 million with an additional 1 million euros in potential bonuses to acquire the former Vision FC guardsman from the Swedish Allsvenskan side to bolster their backline in the 2025–26 season's campaign.
Yegbe, who became a hot commodity for several clubs in Europe including Birmingham City, Fulham, RC Lens, and Brighton, is expected to arrive in French in the coming hours to undergo a mandatory medical examination ahead of the move.
The 24-year-old has featured in 18 games for IF Elfsborg in the Swedish Allsvenskan this season, scoring one goal and providing an assist in the process.
The highly-rated defender's contract with Elfsborg was to expire in December 2028 and the imminent move to the French top-tier club is a testament to his incredible performance for the past years since leaving the shores of Ghana
He joined SJK in Finland from Ghana Premier League campaigners in 2022 before he was acquired by IF Elfsborg last year for €550,000 with a 20% resale value.
Yegbe currently boasts of 1 cap with the Ghana senior men's national team, the Black Stars on the international stage.
Why Terry Yegbe is a perfect signing for FC Metz
Terry Yegbe is currently one of the highly rated centre-backs in the Swedish Allsvenskan, and he proved his worth by playing an instrumental role in IF Elfsborg's UEFA Europa League campaign in his debut season at the club last term.

Yegbe is a left-footed ball-playing centre-back who is occasionally assigned a left-back role due to his versatility. The elegance and effortlessness with which he plays the centre-back position is unique.
Ferocious in the tackle and yet undemonstrative verbally, Yegbe is very much a leader by example, seldom expressing himself to his teammates other than to maintain the defensive discipline and organisation that is the hallmark of any team led by him. He is, however, no mere ‘hatchet-man’ backline defender.
He is blessed with an ability to read the game defensively, and when seized of the opportunity to carry the ball out of defence for the club, he is a gifted playmaker with an acute sense of game craft.
His stamina is exceptional; he’s very strong physically, good in the air and quick on the ground, and able to run at least a kilometre at full speed in every match and will gel in the French Ligue 1 being paired with any of the FC Metz's centre-backs.
He’s comfortable with the ball at his feet, equally capable of a fast-paced delivery into his centre-forward or playing a diagonal cross-field pass to a winger. His anticipation and reading of the game give him an excellent interception rate, while his speed enables him to recover against the majority of forwards.
During the international break in November 2024, Ghana coach Otto Addo handed Terry Yegbe his maiden call-up ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Yegbe made his first-ever debut for the Black Stars in a 2-1 home loss to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium.
