The talented forward of Ghanaian descent has completed his medical ahead of his sensational switch to the Bundesliga campaigners.
Dutch-born Ghanaian attacker Ernest Poku is set to seal his move to German top-tier league outfit Bayer Leverkusen from AZ Alkmaar in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement with the Eredivisie side to acquire the signature of the 21-year-old forward for a reported transfer fee of €10m plus €2m in bonuses.
He arrived in Germany earlier today to undergo a mandatory medical examination to finalize his sensational move to the 2023-24 Bundesliga champions.
Poku will sign a four-year contract until 2029, becoming Leverkusen’s latest attacking player to join the club this summer after Malik Tillman (€35m), Ibrahim Maza (€12m), Christian Kofane (€5.25m) and Farid Alfa-Ruprecht (€1.3m).

He played his final match over the weekend and lasted 77 minutes in Alkmaar’s 4-1 win against FC Groningen in the opening matchday of the Eredivisie at the weekend, providing an assist for Denso Kasius.
Born in Hamburg, Poku holds Dutch and Ghanaian citizenship and during his time at Alkmaar, has scored six goals and provided 14 assists in 79 games across all competitions – 10 appearances of which came in the Europa League last season.
Poku is eligible to represent Ghana at the senior national team level despite playing for the Netherlands at the U19 and U21 levels.
