Edmund Baidoo’s first-half goal proved insufficient as RB Salzburg fell 3-2 to Club Brugge in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Qualification Round 3 tie, losing 4-2 on aggregate at the Jan Breydelstadion.

Salzburg started with intent, taking the lead in the 18th minute through Jacob Rasmussen’s powerful header. Baidoo, alert in the box, added a second in the 43rd minute with a composed finish, giving the visitors a commanding position at halftime.

The Ghanaian forward was a constant threat during his 64 minutes on the pitch, but Brugge turned the game around after the break. Joaquin Seys halved the deficit on 61 minutes, Carlos Forbs equalised in the 83rd, and Hans Vanaken struck in stoppage time to complete the comeback and dash Salzburg’s hopes of reaching the group stage.

With their European campaign cut short, Salzburg will now turn their focus to the Austrian Bundesliga, where they face Hartberg on August 16.
