After spending the second half of the just ended campaign on loan at the French third tier side, the 21-year-old winger of Ghanaian origin has reunited with his employers until June 2026
Championnat National club Valenciennes have announced the signing of French-born Ghanaian winger Stredair Appuah from ltalian club Palermo on a season-long loan deal this summer.
The former FC Nantes man is now set to spent the entire 2025-26 campaign at the Stade du Hainaut after staging a comeback on a loan basis in this current transfer window.
''Barely gone and already back! Stredair Appuah, loaned to VAFC from January to June by the Italian club Palermo, is making his return to the colors of Valencia. This wide forward, who is returning on a one-season loan, had a notable first stint last season at VA, where he played 13 National matches (3 goals, 1 assist). Now well-versed in National matches, the 21-year-old will continue his rise to prominence within the Hainaut attack. Welcome back to VA Stredair!,'' an official statement read.
The Ghana-prospect winger said right after reuniting with his side via the club's official website: ''I'm very happy to be returning to VA. It's a club, it's a city that I know quite well. Coming here, I think it was the best choice for my progression. I already know the players, I know the city a little, I know the club. I'm going back to my roots. I think it was the best choice for my progression, and for the rest of my career as well. The six months I spent here last season gave me a lot of confidence and a lot of pleasure. It's true that finding myself on the pitch, playing regularly, getting minutes, it did me a world of good. And I think that if I repeat more or less the same things as during this second half of the season, I can win the hearts of the supporters and move forward with this wonderful club."
Sporting director Mathieu Frison added: ''We are very happy to see Stredair return to VAFC. He stepped up during his last loan spell, making decisive plays in important matches. Despite numerous requests, he was determined to return to VAFC to confirm his performance over a full season. We will gain time with a player who already knows our environment and its expectations."
Having figured for the French U20 national youth team, Appuah remains fit to play for Ghana on the international stage given his Ghanaian parentage.
