The German Fourth division campaigners have landed the signature of the 24-year-old defender of Ghanaian origin ahead of the new football season
German-born Ghanaian defender Andrew Owusu has joined Regionalliga Nord (lV) side Bremer SV for the 2025-26 campaign, the club have confirmed.
The ex-Arminia Hanover left-back is joining the Bremen-based club on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Fifth division side MTV Eintracht Celle this summer.
An official statement over the signing of the Ghana-prospect lateral defender read: ''Bremer SV welcomes Andrew Owusu as a new signing at Panzenberg. The 24-year-old left-back joins from Oberliga club MTV Eintracht Celle, where he impressed as a regular starter.''
''At 1.90 m tall, the German-Ghanaian not only brings stability to the defense, but also power and presence on the left flank. Andrew previously played for Arminia Hannover and HSC Hannover.''
Owusu stated right after appending his signature to the deal, telling the club's website: ''I most recently played for MTV Eintracht Celle in the Lower Saxony Oberliga. My position is primarily left-back, but I can also play in left midfield or on the right—so I'm pretty versatile. I hope to get as many appearances as possible, help the team as best I can, and have a successful season with the team. I'm especially looking forward to meeting the fans at Panzenberg and the atmosphere in the stadium!"
Sporting director Ralf Voigt added: ''Andrew is a very agile player, has a lot of pace, and has solid technique. He can be used both defensively and offensively, which makes him very valuable to us.
We will continue to improve his tackling in training, but I am convinced he will play a good role in the Regionalliga. I think we have made a really good purchase in him.''
He was impressive in his outings this term having played in 31 games for MTV Eintracht Celle across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.
Given his Ghanaian origin, he still remains eligible to represent Ghana on the international stage as he is yet to be cap-tied by the Die Mannschaft.
