Germany youth defender Patric Pfeiffer on Tuesday announced his international allegiance switch to play for the senior national team of Ghana ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Pfeiffer, who was born to Ghanaian parents in Hamburg, is currently rated among the best young central defenders in Germany following his scintillating performance at SV Darmstadt 98 in the last three seasons. He has switched nationality to the West African nation despite representing Germany at the U18 and U19 level with four appearances.

He had a terrific campaign with SV Darmstadt 98 last season after scoring one in 31 Bundesliga II matches, aiding them to finish fourth place on the table with 60 pionts.

The Journey So Far

Patric Pfeiffer started his football career at Hamburg based third-tier outfit Bramfelder SV before moving to Hamburg SV at age 14. He rose through the ranks to earn promotion to the senior team before his transfer to SV Darmstadt 98 in 2019.

He joined SV Darmstadt 98 on a long-term contract worth €250,000. A consistent performer in the set-up of the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor outfit since joining them in July 2019 from Hamburger SV.

He is a stopper

He is strong; energetic; extremely good in the air, but also possesses technical skills on the ground. His passing range is excellent, and he can regularly be found starting off any team's attack

A modern centre-back

Standing 6'5, Pfeiffer has all the attributes to be described as a modern central defender with his output at Hamburg SV and SV Darmstadt 98. He is also comfortable bursting forward on the pitch. He knows how to find vacant space and is rarely scared of stepping up into it, and he's comfortable enough with the ball at his feet to make something happen.

He's an intelligent defender with only one red card in his career

Patric Pfeiffer is one of the stalwart defenders who could be described as intelligent. His reading of the game is so good that he can anticipate situations before they escalate but, if he does get into danger, he can always rely on his long stride to get him out of trouble.
Pfeiffer has received only one red card in his football career — his days at Hamburg SV II — after being sent off on the 32nd minute in their game against SSV Jeddeloh II in the German third-tier league during the 2018/19 season.

Bundesliga clubs chasing him

Patric Pfeiffer, 22, is currently on the wishlist of a host of German top-tier clubs including Mainz 05, FC Koln and Werder Bremen after an incredible season in the Bundesliga II with SV Darmstadt 98.

Patric Pfeiffer is a real asset for the Black Stars of Ghana for now and the future
