In a Premier League filled with global stars, Antoine Semenyo has emerged as one of the season’s breakout performers — and his rise is drawing attention across Europe.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, describing the in-form Ghanaian as an “extraordinary player” ahead of their Premier League encounter.
Ghanaian youngster Hafiz Gariba is making waves at FC Barcelona, with club insiders reportedly viewing the 18-year-old as a strong prospect for future promotion to the first team.
French-based Ghanaian defender, Terry Yegbe has spoken on how his football journey has been so far and furthered explained how he received his first Black Stars invite, something he described as a very proud moment for himself.
The 24-year-old center-back currently plies his trade in the French Ligue 1 with FC Metz - where he joined in the last summer transfer window on a four-year deal from Swedish club Elfsborg IF.
His first stop was Finland, where he turned out for SJK Seinäjoki on loan and quickly established himself at the heart of their defence and subsequently earned himself a move into the Swedish topflight in early 2024.
In Sweden, Yegbe grew into a key figure, amassing 40 appearances and scoring four goals across two seasons. His commanding presence in duels, ability to play out from the back with his cultured left foot, and threat from set-pieces made him an indispensable part of Elfsborg’s system.
The bulky-guardsman was even linked with a move into the English Premier League but the couldn’t materialize and he’s confirmed that in a recent interview with Flashscore.
“At Elfsborg, everything went well,” he says. “The first year was great. I almost got a move to the Premier League in January, but it didn’t happen. Still, I told myself I’ll keep working. It’s all part of the process.”
During the international break in November 2024, Ghana coach Otto Addo handed Terry Yegbe his maiden call-up ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Yegbe made his first-ever debut for the Black Stars in a 2-1 home loss to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He furthered gave insights of how he earned his first ever invite into the Black Stars stating it came unexpected but added it’s the proudest moment of his life.
“It came so suddenly. My agent called me around 4 or 5 a.m., saying, ‘Pack your things; Otto Addo just called and said you’re going to the national team.’ I was half asleep, but it was such a proud moment for me, for my family, and for my community in Akatsi.”
Terry Yegbe has now made eight appearances in the French Ligue 1 so far this season
