Kudus Mohammed connected sumptuously with a firm header from Jordan Ayew's cross to double the Black Stars lead heading into the break.
In the second half, the South Koreans returned on a very explosive note and pulled one back on the 58th minute through Gue-Sung Cho with a teasing header.
Just three minutes after, the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors forward scored again to complete his brace and also got the Taegeuk Warriors back on level terms. Just what they were hunting for.
And finally on the 68th minute, Kudus Mohammed scored with a calm finish after a decent cross was sent from the left, to restore Ghana's lead.
The four time African champions defended so well in the last fifteen minutes to preserve their lead, thanks to a huge heroics of goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi.
