Former Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC forward, Sadick Adams has given his opinion on why he thinks the standard of the Ghana Premier League is low and what to do to improve on that subsequently.
The Ghanaian topflight championship has been criticized heavily in recent times in terms of quality of players and the play in general.
An evidence of the league's standard that has dropped can be premised to the recent performance of the Black Galaxies at the just ended African Nations Championship which was staged in Algeria early this year.
The ex- Athletico Madrid stat has vast experience in the local game and that's because he started with AshantiGold before subsequently playing for Berekum Chelsea and giants Asante Kotoko when he returned from abroad to relaunch his career
In an interview, the bulky striker has questioned the recruitment of our clubs and believes they only look at quantity instead of quality in terms of player acquisition and that's one of the substantive reasons the standard of our league has dipped.
“Sometimes the kind of players our clubs recruit into the senior side, it is also not helping our league and so that is the most important thing that is happening,” he told Radio Gold.
“Because when you compare those day’s league and now, it’s far far different.
“It is not that they don’t know how to recruit but they want the quantity not the quality, the clubs don’t want to spend on quality players.
“Maybe they have the money to buy the quality player but they will rather use the money to buy the quantity of the players.
“That’s making the league not have much quality, we have quantity but not much quality players", he concluded
