Highly-rated gaffer, James Kwesi Appiah has applied for the Black Stars coaching job, hoping for a third spell with the senior national team.

This is because the Ghana FA is still on the lookout for a befitting manager to inherit the Black Stars coaching role which has been vacant since the resignation of Otto Addo after the 2022 World Cup.

The 62 year old per reports has joined the long list of coaches to have exhibited their willingness and readiness for the job and is currently the only local gaffer to have shown interest.

He's already managed the four time African champions twice and is hoping for the third chance as he's already stated he still has an unfinished business with the team.

He spent two years in his first coming with the Black Stars where he qualified the team to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil- making him the first home-based coach to achieve that.

From the period of 2017-2020, he came back for his second spell and yet without any impressive output to show, having suffered a round 16 eviction at the 2019 AFCON staged in Egypt.

The former Al Khartoum gaffer prior to his application, has already stated he will need five years to establish a fearsome and winsome side for Ghana and also end the almost 40 years trophy drought.
