West Bromwich Albion striker, Brandon Thomas-Asante has described his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for this month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers as an honor.
Asante earned his maiden call-up into Ghana’s senior national team after an outstanding performance for the Championship club in the just ended season.
He scored 12 goals and provided 2 assists across all competitions as West Brom narrowly missed out on qualification to the Premier League.
Asante’s outstanding performances throughout the season has earned him a place in the Black Stars squad for the second time, but is making the final squad for the first time.
The 23-year-old in a post on Instagram stated that he feels honoured to represent the nation and is ready to achieve success together with his teammates.
“Loving every minute. Extremely honored, and hungry for more success together! Thank you Jesus.”
The Black Stars are set to face Mali on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako in the third round of qualifying for the Canada and USA World Cup.
Four days later, the team will return to Ghana for the fourth round match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium against the Central African Republic.
Ghana opened its qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Madagascar in Kumasi before losing by the same score line to Comoros in the second group game.
Ghana currently sits fourth in Group I with three points, three behind leaders Comoros.
