Newly appointed Black Starlets head coach Stephen Frimpong Manso has acknowledged the significant challenges ahead as he takes charge of Ghana’s U-17 national team.

Reflecting on the scope of his responsibilities, Frimpong Manso explained, “It’s a difficult job, not just a task, because at the U-17 level, you have to go down to the districts and scout for talents yourself. Beyond those in the mainstream system, there are also talented players without clubs, and we need to identify them. Covering all these areas is essential to building a strong team.”

Ghana, two-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, last appeared on the global stage in 2017, exiting at the quarterfinals. The team has since struggled to qualify, and Frimpong Manso’s appointment marks a renewed effort to end this drought and restore the Starlets' historic dominance.

In his third stint with the Black Starlets, the experienced coach has prioritized comprehensive scouting and preparation as the foundation for assembling a squad capable of excelling on both the continental and global stages. His mission is to revive the pride and legacy of Ghana’s U-17 team.
